The Cardiovascular Sonographer is responsible for performing echocardiograms and various vascular studies to assess the patient's anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. They must demonstrate proficiency in using ultrasound equipment to record quality images of the cardiovascular system according to established guidelines and policies.
Candidates are required to have one year of clinical ultrasound experience and must possess specific licensure, including Registered Vascular Technologist And Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, or Registered Vascular Specialist And Registered Cardiac Sonographer. Educationally, a Graduate in Cardiac Ultrasound and Graduate in Peripheral Vascular Ultrasound is required, while an Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Sonography is preferred.
The Cardiovascular Sonographer performs echocardiograms as well as varying vascular studies of patient's anatomy/physiology and pathophysiology. They must demonstrate proficiency in the use of ultrasound equipment to visualize and record quality images of the structures of the cardiovascular system in accordance with established guidelines and departmental policies and procedures.
