The Surgical Assistant will actively adhere to organizational values and all relevant laws regarding patient health and safety while assisting with surgical procedures in the operating room and clinic. Responsibilities also include conducting initial patient assessments during office visits, scheduling diagnostic tests, documenting care provided, and acting as a committed member of the medical home team.
Candidates must have a high school diploma plus additional specific training, including two years of post-secondary education in an accredited Physician Assistant program or comparable training leading to accredited surgical assisting certification. Required experience includes independent leg vein harvesting preference, and BLS certification is mandatory upon hire or within 60 days.

Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information. Assists with surgical procedures in operating room and in clinic Conducts initial assessment of patients during office visits. Schedules diagnostic test procedures as directed. Documents patient care provided. Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit. Acts as a collaborating member of the clinic medical home team and is highly committed to a team construct. Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed. What you will need: Education: High school graduate with additional specific training. Two years post-secondary education in an accredited Physician Assistant program or comparable training that results in successful certification by an accredited organization in surgical assisting.
Certification in Surgical Assisting and/or can provide evidence of employment in the field prior to July 1, 2009. BLS certification required upon hire or able to obtain within 60 days.
