The handler will utilize the facility dog to provide goal-directed Animal-Assisted Therapy interventions, offering emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and physical support to patients and families in various clinical settings. This role also involves functioning as a key healthcare team member, communicating patient information, developing programming, and maintaining all requirements for dog handling.
A Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Recreational Therapy, Child Development, or a related field is required, along with relevant certifications such as CTRS or CCLS, and completion of required training from the Facility Dog Training Placement Organization. Comfort working with children and animals is essential.
