The technologist will prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, maintain required records for radioactive material, and operate all equipment safely and efficiently to produce diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation. Duties also include ensuring proper charging of procedures, enforcing safety guidelines for radioactive material, and assisting with quality assurance activities.
Candidates must be graduates of an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program and hold current registration from ARRT-Nuclear, NMTCB, or ASCP, along with current CPR certification. Licensure is required for both Kentucky (KBMIRT) and Indiana (ISDH), and adequate clinical experience from an approved program is necessary.
Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients, maintain records of radioactive material in accordance to specific guidelines. Operates all equipment in an effective, safe and efficient manner Follow the safety steps required to perform their duties and be in compliance with medical, state and federal safety standards. They must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriately. Effectively utilizes all necessary computer systems in compliance with HIPPA guidelines. Must be proficient in all aspects of ordered NM procedure. This service provides diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologist. Obtains and records all patient data as required by the medical center, state, JCAHO or other agencies. Ensure proper charging of all procedures, coding, and modifiers are correct. Technologist will be familiar with and enforce the federal, state, local and facility guidelines for handling of radioactive material. Reviews images for high quality. Assist in performing QC, QA, QI or ACR as necessary. Complies with house-wide BSA regulations as well as specific Nuclear Medicine precautions. Performs other duties as assigned. Education, Credentials, Licenses: Education and National Credentials: Graduate of an approved program of Nuclear Medicine Technology. Registered by one of the following: ARRT-Nuclear or NMTCB or ASCP. Current CPR certification State Licensure: Kentucky: KBMIRT Radiation Operators License (Nuclear Medicine).
