The Cytologist is responsible for specialized and complex technical tasks involving the processing and screening of cytologic specimens, both gynecologic and non-gynecologic, to detect evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions. This includes marking abnormalities, rendering diagnoses, determining cases for quality control review, and performing Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) during Fine Needle Aspirations.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Science along with a Certificate of Completion in Cytotechnology, and must obtain Cytologist (CT) certification from ASCP within one year of hire. Experience levels influence the sign-on bonus structure, with candidates having greater than one year of experience receiving a higher bonus.

Participate in specialized and complex technical tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens, both gynecologic and non-gynecologic, for evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions according to departmental terminoloy and protocols including marking abnormalities, rendering diagnoses and determining cases for quality control or subsequent review with pathologist; performs various Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations and protocols; perform rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) using tele-pathology system in the collection, processing and immediate evaluation of Fine Needle Aspirations.
