The Surgical Technologist provides essential scrub duties during surgical procedures, operating under the direction and supervision of a physician and a registered nurse. They actively participate in and enhance the surgical care provided by the team throughout the pre-operative phase.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology and hold a current Surgical Technician Certification from an approved program, meeting Massachusetts Department of Public Health standards if hired after July 1, 2013. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the Red Cross or American Heart Association is also required.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology Licensure: Surgical Technician Certification through from NBSTSA. Massachusetts Department of Public Health standards introduced by statute in 2013 require surgical technologists hired after July 1, 2013 to maintain a certified surgical technologist credential. All Surgical Techs hired by SPHS prior to July 1, 2013 will be grandfathered.
