The coordinator will work under the Medical Records Director, performing duties that require independent decision-making within standardized procedures, focusing on collecting and analyzing medical record data. A key function involves helping maintain a quality improvement system to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality patient care through proper utilization of hospital resources.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and experience with the ICD-CM coding system or a clinical background is necessary, though on-the-job training is available for those preferred candidates. Candidates must possess familiarity with medical terminology, strong communication skills for interacting with various hospital staff, and the ability to work effectively despite frequent interruptions.
