Responsibilities

In this role the Stem Cell Specialist will perform the following job duties

• Supports the Clinical Bone Marrow Transplant Program through demonstration of a superior level of technical proficiency, critical thinking, and problem solving in such areas as processing and cryopreservation of hematopoietic progenitor stem cells, interpretation of red blood cell group antigens, complex antibody identifications and compatibility. Assist in procurement of hematopoietic progenitor cells (bone marrow, apheresis) Verify appropriate donor Human Leukocyte Antigen (LHA) results Interacts with physicians regarding cell doses for transplants Participate in quality assurance and accreditation initiatives Collaborate with researchers developing new procedures Provides technical support to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.
