RN PRN 20P - Pediatric ICU - 3rd Shift

• Overview The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is an 11 bed ICU that cares for critically ill children at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children.
• The PICU is staffed by RNs, NPs, and Pediatric Intensivist who work closely together with a supportive multidisciplinary care team to provide acute care to children from 0-18 years of age.
• We offer a progressive educational program to train staff in pediatric critical care to include monthly inservices from our physicians.

• The PICU RN provides care for children and adolescents from 0-18 years of age, with life-threatening or high- acuity conditions that require constant monitoring.
• The RN identifies patient needs and priorities for care through detailed assessment of children who have respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, orthopedic, endocrine and neurologic dysfunction.
• The PICU RN plans and delivers safe, age appropriate care under critical situations based on the patient’s needs to include titration of drips, multiple technical procedures and use of a variety of equipment for acute care.
• The RN evaluates the patient’s response to care and the attainment of or progress toward expected outcomes.
• The RN is accountable for outcomes of patient care delivered during the assigned shift, and strives to provide clinical and service excellence.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing with current Alabama licensure.

Experience

• Must have 1 year of ICU experience, preferably in Pediatrics.
• Additional
• Skill/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. PALS required within 6 months of hire.
