The Medical Technologist performs and completes laboratory tests according to departmental procedures, manages specimens including those for reference labs, and records/reports all testing data accurately. They are also responsible for quality assurance/control, instrument maintenance, and observing all mandated safety policies.
A Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a comparable degree with required biology and chemistry coursework is mandatory, along with documented successful completion of training acceptable for certification eligibility. Preferred qualifications include ASCP certification, strong communication, problem-solving, time management, and computer proficiency.
1. Performs and completes all tests according to departmental procedure manuals within established turnaround times; prioritizes tasks appropriately. 2. Handles specimens according to departmental guidelines including unacceptable
specimens and specimens for transport to reference labs.
