The role is responsible for daily specimen processing in the laboratory, involving both technical and non-technical duties, and communicating results to physicians and staff. Key duties include preparing and processing specimens, reviewing technical systems for quality assurance, and performing tests across all phases of testing.
A Bachelor's degree in biology, Chemistry, molecular or related field, along with successful completion of a medical technology program and one year of related experience in the specialty, is preferred. A state of Florida laboratory license is required, and an MT(ASCP) or MT(AMT) license is preferred, along with dependability and adaptability.
Responsible for daily specimen processing in the designated laboratory, including technical and non-technical duties. Communicates with staff physicians and other staff employees regarding patient’s specimen. Works with management personnel to ensure efficient and technically correct systems and procedures in the laboratory that includes QA/QC of reagents, instrumentation, proficiency testing, etc. Key Performance Areas Prepare and process specimens for testing using CAP acceptable methods and standards. Reviews the daily technical systems for assurance of quality and efficiency. Perform tests according to approved policies and procedures for all phases of testing; pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic, as well as general laboratory specimens. Assures instruments and reagents are within quality parameters. Participates in laboratory research and development projects as needed and as time permits. Responsible for inventory and ordering of supplies. Exercises all precautions when handling hazardous chemicals that are irritating to mucous membranes and the skin. Assist with revising laboratory documents including policies, procedures, and forms. Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times. Will be expected to work at any Company location to help meet the Company’s business needs. Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patient rights, safety, billing, human resources and collections. Adhere to all Company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan. Keep work area and records in a neat and orderly manner. Maintain all company equipment in a safe and working order. Position Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in biology, Chemistry, molecular or related field and/ or successful completion of a medical technology or related field Training program and has a minimum 1 year of related experience in the designated laboratory specialty is preferred. A state of Hawaii laboratory license in the designated area is required, and an MT(ASCP) or MT(AMT) license is preferred. Candidate must be dependable, and adaptable in all aspects of laboratory responsibilities and scheduling hours.
