The technician performs various clinical, microscopic, and bacteriological tests to gather data essential for diagnosing and treating diseases. This involves receiving and analyzing specimens using techniques from fields like bacteriology, hematology, and serology, while strictly adhering to laboratory policies and regulatory requirements.
Candidates must possess a relevant degree (B.S. in Medical Technology or A.A.S. in Medical Laboratory Technology) or pass an HHS-approved proficiency exam, along with holding an ASCP certification (MLS, MT, or MLT). The role requires mathematical aptitude, familiarity with laboratory equipment, and the ability to participate in weekend and holiday on-call rotations.
