The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy treatment plans developed by a licensed Occupational Therapist, focusing on improving patients' daily living skills, mobility, strength, and cognitive functioning to promote independence and quality of life. This role also involves training residents in safe functional tasks to reduce the risk of falls and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Candidates must possess an Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program, current state licensure as a COTA, and NBCOT certification. Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care is preferred, though new graduates are encouraged to apply.
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides occupational therapy services to patients under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA assists patients in developing, recovering, and maintaining daily living and work skills to promote independence, safety, and quality of life in accordance with established treatment plans, facility policies, and regulatory requirements.
