The PreOp/PACU RN provides comprehensive care to patients before and after surgery, including preparing them for the procedure, monitoring their condition, and managing post-operative recovery until discharge. Key duties involve patient assessment, administering necessary medications and fluids, and ensuring clear communication with the surgical team and family members.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, holding an active RN license in the appropriate state. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and PALS, with a preference for a minimum of two years of nursing experience and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing.
Under the direction of Clinical Leadership the PreOp/PACU RN provides comprehensive care to patients before and after surgery, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the perioperative period. This includes preparing patients for surgery, monitoring vital signs and overall condition until point of discharge. Provide appropriate assessment of physical, psychosocial/family, cultural, personal beliefs or restrictions, cognitive abilities, and pain and comfort needs. Maintain open communication with all staff to promote improvement in performance and quality care.
