The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy treatment to patients under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist and adhering to professional and organizational standards. This includes implementing patient treatments based on assessment and initiating patient and family teaching.
Required qualifications include an Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy and a valid Physical Therapist Assistant license in Tennessee. Preferred experience is no prior work experience, and candidates must be able to handle physical demands such as lifting up to 150 lbs.
Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials, such as patient records. Ability to verbally communicate treatment instructions and patient status to Associates, physicians, patients, and patients' family members. Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment. Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of work flow. Supervision Provided by this Position There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job. Physical Demands Exposure to patient body fluids. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations. Ability to read and write to communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals. Normal vision, including peripheral vision. Ability to lift, push and pull up to 150 lbs., as well as carry up to 40 lbs. Ability to stand, squat, reach, bend, walk, twist and sit in one place throughout shift. Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive, coordinated motions. Ability to use hands for gripping and squeezing as well as repetitive hand and wrist motion. Good hand-eye coordination.
