The Anesthetist responds to patient anesthetic needs across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases, coordinating care with perioperative staff under medical direction. Key duties include formulating anesthetic plans, administering anesthesia for procedures, performing special line placements, and managing emergent airway needs.
The minimum requirement is a Master's Degree in Nurse Anesthesia, although CRNAs graduating before December 31, 2003, from an accredited program may be accepted in lieu of the degree. Required credentials include SC RN-Advance Practice and CRNA-Nurse Anesthetist licensure, with no previous experience explicitly required.
