The Patient Care Technician performs functions supporting patient care under nurse supervision, focusing on hygiene, safety, nutrition, elimination, and comfort needs for assigned patients. Responsibilities include assisting with procedures, preparing supplies, performing vital signs, feeding, mobility assistance, and maintaining cleanliness of patient areas.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and must complete an approved Nursing Assistant Certification program, obtaining a Certified Nursing Assistant License if hired after 08/09/2020. Required credentials also include American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
Miami, FL Full-Time 2 South Summary Patient Care Technician is a member of the health care team who performs functions which support the delivery of a single standard of care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, for a group of patients relating to their hygiene, safety, nutrition, elimination and comfort needs.
Uses a systematic process to provide/modify care and patient/family education. Assists health care team with simple procedure; prepares supplies equipment; provides patient/family support, assists in positioning patients, sets up/or remove equipment etc. Performs a variety of tasks associated with generalized patient care (vital signs, feeding, mobility, IV lines, drainage, personal hygiene: bath, dressing, bed making/linen changes etc.). Utilizes specialized equipment as needed when providing patient care (spirometer, restraints etc.). Prepares and cleans exam rooms, patient treatment areas and stretchers between patient use. Transports patients to and from treatment areas when needed. Cleans clinic area he/she is assigned to after patients treatment is finished at the end of day according to departmental procedures. Takes and picks up food orders for patient's kitchen evaluation. Assists in the fabrication of adaptive and assistive equipment, i.e. washing mitts, wheelchair gloves, safety belts, straps, etc. Keeps the storage closet in order and stocked. Assists with office duties as needed, i.e. answering phone, taking messages. Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list. Utilizes job and unit specific equipment as required. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
Education High School Diploma or successful completion of GED is required.
