The role involves caring for a wide range of patients from neonates up to adults in the operating rooms, performing surgical procedures ranging from ear tubes to open heart. OR nurses are trained to function in both the circulator and scrub roles, requiring approximately 9 months of onboarding.
Candidates must possess an Associate of Nursing (ASN), with a Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred, and hold a current Indiana Registered Nurse license from a nationally accredited program. Required certifications include Basic Life Support (AHA), and OR experience is mandatory, with CVOR experience being preferred.

In the operating rooms, we care for a wide range of patients ranging from neonates up to adults. At Riley, we perform surgical procedures as simples as ear tubes to open heart.

Our OR nurses are trained to function in both the circulator role and as a scrub. Because of this, our onboarding takes approximately 9 months.
Unit: Successes/Designations/National recognition: Level I Trauma, Magnet
Culture Highlights: Growing team that will be comprised of 80 percent nurses and 20 percent certified surgical technologists. We have several other supportive roles such as Operating Room Assistants, Patient Transporters, and Equipment Specialist. Our team is dedicated to patient safety. We work very closely with the anesthesia and surgical care teams to optimize patient outcomes.
