The Anesthetist responds to patient anesthetic needs, coordinating care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases under the direction of an anesthesiologist. Responsibilities include formulating anesthetic plans, administering anesthesia for procedures, and managing emergent airways as needed.
A Master's Degree in Nurse Anesthesia is generally required, though exceptions exist for CRNAs who graduated before December 31, 2003, from an accredited program. Candidates must hold active SC RN-Advance Practice and CRNA-Nurse Anesthetist certifications/licensure, with no previous experience explicitly required.
