The Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant evaluates patients of all ages, obtains histories, performs physical examinations, and assists in inducing, maintaining, and altering depths of sedation/anesthesia across various settings. Responsibilities also include assisting with advanced monitoring, life support techniques, post-anesthesia rounds, and performing regional anesthesia procedures.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and have successfully completed an anesthesiologist assistant program accredited by CAAHEP or its successor. Required competencies include current state licensure, certification from the NCCAA, excellent communication and critical decision-making skills, and the stamina to handle long shifts and high emotional stress.
