The core responsibility involves obtaining accurate and reliable blood and body fluid specimens from properly identified adult and/or pediatric patients under laboratory supervision. This includes identifying phlebotomy difficulties, defining solutions, coordinating resources, and ensuring the integrity of various specimens like blood, urine, sputum, and stool.
Candidates must complete an accredited phlebotomy program or possess equivalent education/experience and obtain Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification upon hire. Specific experience requirements vary by level: Associate (none specified beyond certification), Phlebotomist (6 months), and Senior Phlebotomist (3 years) with the Senior role also requiring the ability to handle a minimum workload of 10-12 patients per hour.
This is a combined posting for an Associate Phlebotomist, Phlebotomist, and Senior Phlebotomist . The requirements of each role are listed below under each associated title. Under the direction of laboratory leadership and the supervision of a licensed phlebotomist, the Associate Phlebotomist obtains accurate and reliable blood and body fluid specimens from properly identified adult and/or pediatric patients. Identifies phlebotomy difficulties, defines appropriate solutions and coordinates resources. Maintains outstanding relationships with client and technical staff.
A Senior Phlebotomist must be able to perform all Phlebotomist duties without assistance. Must be able to draw a minimum workload of 10 – 12 patients per hour. Number of patients who are missed and need to be redrawn should be less than 3 per month. Have demonstrated the ability to effectively assist with training new phlebotomists.

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors.
