The Scrub Technician works alongside surgeons and surgical staff to provide patient care in the operating room. They assist the surgical team while adhering to AORN guidelines and hospital policies.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and certification from an accredited Scrub Technician program. BLS certification is required, and one year of previous experience is preferred.

Reports to the Perioperative Coordinator and DON. The LPN/Scrub Technician works along side the surgeon and surgical staff. They would act as surgical staff member to assist surgeons and nurses in providing care for our patients while following the guidelines set by AORN.
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: High school graduate or GED equivalent

Education: Certification from an accredited Scrub Technician program
C.
Experience: One (1) year previous experience in Scrub Technician preferred
BLS – health care provider. Good communication skills, both orally and written. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.
Involves general guidance and direction by Registered Nurses and Director of Nursing Services. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
This position requires competence in assessment, treatment, and/or care for the age groups indicated. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training, or experience.

The position requires the use of personal protective equipment during various task/activities. Personal protective equipment includes, but is not limited to gloves, masks and safety glasses.
