The role involves assisting with patient examination and treatment under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider, which includes performing select clinical duties like taking vital signs and preparing treatment rooms. Additionally, the assistant handles basic clerical tasks such as scheduling, filing, and managing supplies.
Candidates need a High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience, and must be a graduate of a medical assistant school or training program if in Wisconsin. Required certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) from AHA, along with one of several recognized Medical Assistant certifications (e.g., CCMA, CMA, RMA).
