Position Summary
The Ultrasound Technician performs diagnostic ultrasound exams in an OB/GYN clinic setting to help evaluate and manage obstetric, gynecologic, reproductive, and thyroid conditions. They ensure accurate imaging, timely documentation, and excellent patient care. Responsibilities include conducting obstetric ultrasounds, assisting with early pregnancy evaluations, and collaborating with physicians while maintaining medical records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform ultrasound procedures as prescribed by a physician including: positioning patients for the proper view of the affected area; selecting the appropriate scan images to be recorded on film; obtaining essential information from patients, medical records and previous scans for clinical correlation; instructing patients about the proper physiological requirements for the procedure; helping patient transfer to ultrasound examination table and ensuring adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan.

Medical knowledge including: a strong understanding of anatomy, adjusts positioning to obtain proper images, attention to detail, and ability to identify abnormalities in sonograms.
Obtain diagnostic ultrasound images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient with the scan head.
Develop/Process film and digital imaging
Submit diagnostic ultrasound examination and preliminary report to physician.
Operate portable ultrasound equipment, including quality controls and required maintenance.
Assist physicians with ultrasound guided biopsy and other procedures.
Assist in performing life-saving techniques to the patient if necessary.
Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross contamination.
Perform patient care tasks as assigned.
Requests charts and imaging as needed.
Perform other related job duties as assigned or delegated.

Required Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Successful completion of ultrasound program
Registered (or registry eligible) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in OB/GYN.

Knowledge of ultrasound examination policies, protocols.
Computer literate; skill with accessing applicable programs.
Skill in production of accurate sonograms meeting physician expectations.
