The Veterinary Technician Assistant primarily supports the Veterinary Technician by restraining pets and setting up tests for examinations, aiming to increase efficiency by handling routine tasks. Essential duties include providing compassionate care, maintaining accurate medical records, preparing exam rooms, performing physical assessments, and explaining follow-up care to clients.
The ideal candidate should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with previous on-the-job experience or an animal care background being desirable but not required. Competencies include strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
The Veterinary Technician Assistant is the Veterinary Technician’s primary support. They assist in restraining pets and test set up for the examination procedure. They aid the technicians in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of some of the routine work. They have a very significant role in freeing up the technicians to assist the veterinarian with medical procedures.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the NetSuite system; MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word; MS PowerPoint Word Processing software. Previous veterinary practice systems is a plus.

This job operates in a professional animal hospital/clinic. This role may have exposure to electromagnetic radiation, anesthetic gases, unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
