The Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized, patient-centered approach to care, assisting in patient examination and treatment under physician direction. Responsibilities include interviewing patients, measuring and recording vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and completion of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred along with one year of patient care experience. Certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA or CMA) from AMT, AAMA, NHA, or MedCA, along with current BLS certification, is required.
