The role involves assisting developmentally disabled adults with activities of daily living, including personal care, administering medications, and advocating for individuals in community settings within a team model. Staff must build supportive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries to encourage consumer growth and independence.
Candidates must be able to complete medication administration training (MAP certification) and possess a vehicle with a current driver's license, as well as pass a background screening process. Experience working with individuals with dementia or behavioral complexities is highly encouraged, and flexibility for a 2nd shift schedule including weekends is required.
The Center for Human Development, (CHD) is seeking dependable Direct Care Staff in the town of Springfield, MA. Join our dedicated Direct Care Staff that work in a supportive residential environment for developmentally disabled adults living in a community-based group home. Many CHD Direct Care Staff have had previous experience as Home Health Aids, Personal Care Assistants, Certified Nursing Aids or even Caregivers to family members of their own.
Those having a passion for helping others with kind and a positive approach make for an ideal candidate for the Direct Care role. Additionally, having strong interpersonal skills, empathy for others, and demonstrated commitment to serving those with significant needs, ability to work well within a team model and independently. You will also need to bring good written and verbal skills, and a strong level of compassion to meet the needs of the individuals served.
