The Surgery Scheduler I coordinates all aspects of patient medical procedures, including hospital reservations, anesthesia arrangements, vendor communication, and providing necessary patient education and paperwork. This role also involves tracking medical clearances, obtaining prior authorizations, and confirming all scheduling steps with relevant parties before the surgery date.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma/GED or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of one to two years of medical office scheduling or administration experience, preferably in a hospital setting. Required knowledge includes insurance regulations, coding, medical terminology, and computer scheduling systems, with Allscripts Pro Suite or similar EMR experience being highly preferred.

Job Overview The Surgery Scheduler I is responsible for coordinating the patient’s office and hospital based medical procedures to include: making reservations at the hospital, arranging anesthesia, communicating with PCP offices, coordinating with vendors of surgical devices/implants representatives and surgical assistants, providing the necessary education, instructions and paperwork, and confirming all steps with all parties before the surgery date. This position requires knowledge of insurances and commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures as it relates to surgery scheduling.
