The Peer supports individuals with substance use and/or mental health challenges by helping them set recovery goals, access community resources, and strengthen daily living skills. This role involves facilitating individual and group sessions focused on recovery planning and teaching problem-solving strategies, including sharing lived experience to promote hope.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and have personal lived experience of substance use and/or mental health recovery with sustained abstinence, along with prior peer work experience. OMH Certified Peer status and WRAP or Mindfulness training are preferred qualifications.

The Health and Wellness Division is a $10M, New York State–certified Article 31 mental health facility providing comprehensive behavioral health services, including outpatient mental health treatment, PROS, crisis services, HIV family mental health services, vocational rehabilitation, supportive employment, case management, entitlement screenings, health care navigation, parent education, and senior services. Services are delivered by culturally competent staff serving English-, Spanish-, and Chinese-speaking clients.
The CONNECT/Clinic Without Walls program, launched in partnership with DOHMH in January 2022, provides rapid access to services through a flexible, holistic, community-based approach to mental health care. CONNECT improves quality of life by increasing access, engagement, and retention in services while reducing mental health emergencies, inpatient admissions, and mobile crisis utilization.
The CONNECT Peer supports individuals with substance use and/or mental health challenges in their recovery journey. Drawing from lived experience, the Peer helps clients set recovery goals, access community resources, strengthen daily living skills, and engage meaningfully in treatment. This role includes both onsite and community-based work and collaboration with the CONNECT and clinic treatment teams.
