The technician is responsible for administrative and clinical functions, including obtaining patient histories, performing preliminary testing, and scheduling patients to support the doctor's care and treatment decisions. They must also assist doctors with exams, maintain the cleanliness of the exam room, and ensure the practice meets quality standards.
Candidates must be capable of performing various clinical tasks such as preparing patients, executing preliminary and requested tests, and assisting optometrists and ophthalmologists with procedures. Physical requirements include standing for long periods, stooping, grasping, lifting up to 15 lbs regularly, and possessing the necessary visual acuity for detailed work.
