The primary goal is to increase physician efficiency by accurately documenting ophthalmic exams and procedures as they occur, including listing diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions. The role also involves providing patient instructions and coordinating patient flow throughout the office.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with previous experience as an ophthalmic scribe or technician and experience with electronic medical records being preferred. Essential physical demands include standing for sustained periods, talking, hearing, and close visual acuity.
The primary goal of the ophthalmic scribe is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician in the clinic setting. The scribe must be able to anticipate physician needs, communicate clearly to patients and staff members, and effectively multi-task in order to facilitate clinic flow.
