The Physical Therapist performs an effective physical therapy program and treatment plan, maintaining professional expertise and assuming responsibility for professional growth. Responsibilities include executing treatment plans within ethical limits, demonstrating strong patient management, promoting effective communication, and contributing to the department's efficient and safe operation.
Candidates must be eligible to practice physical therapy according to New York state and APTA regulations, demonstrating good judgment, maturity, and flexibility in patient and staff situations. Required knowledge includes human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and understanding of various physical therapy treatment techniques typical of a new graduate.

1. Performs a treatment plan as instructed within limits of APTA code of Ethics.
2. Demonstrates a firm grasp of patient management
3. Promotes effective communication and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork within the physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy department, the facility and other contacts.
4. Contributes to the efficient and safe operation of the physical therapy department.

Requires associate level knowledge of human growth and development, human anatomy and physiology, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, biomechanics of motion, manifestations of disease and trauma, normal and abnormal physiological responses, injury and disability, and ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic influences on an individual. Knowledge in neurodevelopment and facilitation treatment techniques, neuromuscular re-education, cardiac monitoring, and in the theory and application of all physical therapy modalities.
Very Heavy - Includes lifting objects in excess of 100 pounds (with assistance) with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
