Candidates must possess an MD or DO from an accredited medical school, completion of a Psychiatry residency, and be board eligible or certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. A valid medical license in Arizona and a level one fingerprint clearance card are mandatory requirements for employment.

The Psychiatrist will be responsible for providing in-patient specialty psychiatric care to patients admitted to the Arizona State Hospital including: performing diagnostic examinations, prescribing medications, developing behavioral plans, monitoring care and progress of the patient toward treatment and recovery goals; leading a multi-disciplinary team, overseeing the work of the team in developing and implementing a plan of care, working with outpatient teams, the patient, families and community providers of care to coordinate a continuum of care for assigned patients; completing inpatient documentation, preparation of reports for legal and administrative purposes; participating in hospital committees and in the development of policies and procedures and standards for mental health program services; working with other professionals in a recovery model including nurses, social workers, psychologists, rehabilitation staff, and other physicians and professional including physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
Ideal candidate will have experience working with the seriously mentally ill.
Requires an MD or DO from an accredited school of medicine; completion of a residency program in Psychiatry, and board eligibility or board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Must possess a medical license to practice in the State of Arizona. Must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issues pursuant to A.R.S.41-1758.07 or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within seven working days after beginning employment.
