The role involves performing ultrasound examinations of the heart and vessels to aid physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular system disorders. Key duties include selecting appropriate equipment, monitoring ultrasonic patterns for quality, documenting results, and consulting with physicians on test data.
A high school diploma or GED is required, with preference given to candidates holding registry by CCI or ARDMS and possessing 1-2 years of relevant experience. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory.
Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values. Performs ultrasound examinations of the heart and vessels to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the cardiovascular system.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Knowledgeable of and selects appropriate ultrasound equipment for echocardiogram procedures and vascular procedures. Monitors sound waves for quality of ultrasonic patterns and documents on appropriate media to obtain a permanent record of examination. Consults with physicians as required regarding collection of test data and critical test results. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Inspects equipment daily to ensure it is operating effectively. Reports malfunctions. Collaborates effectively with other members of healthcare team concerning pertinent patient information and interventions needed. 6. Completes other duties or task as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required: Education: High school diploma or GED. Registry by CCI or ARDMS preferred. BLS certified.
Experience: Prefer 1-2 years’ experience
