The Direct Support Professional assists individuals in achieving personal goals and community integration by supporting daily living activities, communication, health management, and social networking. Responsibilities include ensuring 24/7 safety, fostering trusting relationships, and assisting with personal care tasks like dressing, bathing, and cooking.
Candidates must possess a strong desire to help others with empathy, patience, and dedication, exhibiting trustworthiness and professionalism in all interactions. Required qualifications include a high school diploma/GED, a valid State of Michigan driver's license, the ability to lift 50 lbs, and a commitment to scheduled shifts.
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports the individual goals of the person served and helps them become integrated into his/ her community in the least restrictive manner. The DSP may assist in areas of mobility, activities of daily living, communication, cognition, health management, social networking, vocational, leisure time management, and community participation.
