The surgical assistant supports oral surgeons during procedures by preparing instruments, monitoring patient vital signs, and ensuring a sterile and efficient clinical environment. They are also responsible for documenting patient encounters, managing controlled substance protocols, and providing postoperative education to patients.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a Basic Life Support certification. Previous dental or oral surgery experience is preferred, and the role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The surgical assistant is responsible for ensuring the compassionate, effective, and efficient delivery of high-quality clinical care for patients while practicing and providing safety in the work environment.
