The surgical assistant supports oral surgeons during procedures by preparing instruments, monitoring patient vital signs, and ensuring a sterile and efficient clinical environment. They are also responsible for documenting patient encounters, managing controlled substance protocols, and providing postoperative education.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a basic life support certification. Previous dental or oral surgery experience is preferred, though the employer is willing to train the right candidate.
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent required (some college, preferred) Basic life support certification required. Employers will provide training if the candidate is not current.
