We are looking for a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to join a busy Sports Medicine - Shoulder practice.
The position is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to the Physician and PAs with the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients in an outpatient clinical setting.
The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, strong communication skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
The position will require travel to the following outpatient clinics outlined below.
Schedule will vary per week, 1.5 days in Chicago, 1.5 days in Oak Brook, and twice a month in Naperville.
On surgery days, MA will be in station in the administrative office either in Chicago or Naperville.

Assist physician and providers with the flow of patients during clinic days.
Triage new patients. Take health history and reason for visit, onset of issue, current pain medications.
Reconcile medications, allergies, personal history and family history for all new patients.

Assist physician with office procedures.
Assist with EMR documentation of history, physical exam, assessment and plan.
Measures vital signs before/after procedures.
Enters orders in patients' chart for procedures/injections.
Removes staples, sutures, and external fixation devices as directed by the physician.
Performs routine laboratory tests, collect/assist with the collection of specimens, send collected specimens out to Quest Diagnostic Labs for processing.
Assists with contacting patients for results or call patients to make follow up appointment.
Assists in collecting pre-operative clearance notes, labs, and EKGs to prepare for surgery
Assists in creating pre-surgery packets.
Filters through Athena staff bucket regularly and distribute tasks to team.
Communicated with patients to answer common clinical questions and coordinate with the care team.
Enters school/work notes in patient charts.
Completes disability, FMLA forms, and parking placards.
Completes prior authorizations for medications.
Communicates to administrative assistant any procedure authorizations needed.
Documents information in patients' charts.
Cleans exam rooms between patients, as well as clean and stock at the end of the day.
Preforms other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in orthopedics or a related field
Good verbal and written communication and writing skills.
Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Be comfortable taking initiative and responsibility.
Willing to travel as required.

Pay Range
$23.00 - $26.00 per hour.
