The Certified Nursing Assistant provides nursing and related services according to the resident's care plan, focusing on physical, mental, and psychosocial needs to maintain the highest practicable level of functioning. Responsibilities include maintaining a homelike environment, promoting resident rights and independence, and participating in quality work teams and staff orientation.
Candidates must successfully complete a State of Minnesota approved nurse aide training and competency evaluation program within four months of hire and meet all regulatory requirements for a CNA in Minnesota. Preference is given to applicants with two or more years of experience as a CNA in a skilled nursing facility and training/experience in geriatric nursing.
The certified nursing assistant provides nursing and nursing related services to residents consistent with each resident’s comprehensive assessment and plan of care. All resident care is provided in a manner that meets the resident’s physical, mental and psychosocial needs and enables the individual to attain or maintain the highest practicable level of functioning. The certified nursing assistant maintains a “homelike” environment for the resident, protects and promotes resident rights and assists the resident to maintain independence and control to the greatest extent possible.

Promoting the residents’ well-being and satisfaction by supporting resident-centered care, participating in the interdisciplinary team as it establishes and implements the residents’ plan of care with the resident/resident representative.
Participates in a quality work team by promoting teamwork to provide resident-centered care, participating in team problem solving methods and team/individual successes. Including participating in supportive orientation and training of new staff.
Maintaining a safe, comfortable and functional environment by assessing the household for potential hazards, utilizes appropriate techniques regarding sanitation, infection control, hazardous waste management, fire safety, disaster preparedness and emergency care.
Demonstrates support for organizational fiscal viability through efficient and effective use of all resources of the household, including supplies and availability of resources.
