$22 - $33 / HOUR
The Laboratory Assistant performs designated non-technical and technical clinical laboratory testing duties, including routine specimen collection procedures such as venipuncture and urine collection. Responsibilities also involve performing waived testing under supervision, drug screen collections, sample integrity checks, and various clerical tasks like entering lab orders.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and be certified by the State of Washington as a Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-P), along with a Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, though the latter two can be obtained within 90 days of hire. A minimum of six months of Phlebotomy Experience at Island Health or one year of documented equivalent experience is required.
