Requirements summary

In the Sterile Processing Technician position, you will play a key role in the decontamination and processing of instruments and equipment. Re-stock equipment carts used in various hospital departments.
Distributes medical surgical reprocessed instruments to clinical areas daily and as needed.
Cleans, packages and processes various trays and instruments.
Keeps adequate inventory of stock in surgical services to assure continuous patient care.
Operates decontaminating and high-level disinfecting equipment and maintains daily control record to assure proper sterilization.
Cleans shelves, cupboards, autoclaves, sinks and counters according to written procedures.
Clean and disinfect endoscopy scopes as needed.
Assists in evaluation of new products.
Assists in keeping records specific to department.
Assist in orienting new Central Supply personnel.
Retrieves supplies from Materials Management Department.

Takes call time on a rotation basis.
Ensure instrumentation is available and ready for next day’s surgery schedule and alert director of shortages.
Responsible for prioritizing trays of instruments for reprocessing ensuring the availability of instruments in demand
Respond to pages promptly and appropriately.
Perform daily air removal tests (DART) and biological testing for sterilizers.
Answer departmental phone and respond to requests accordingly.
Troubleshoot equipment as needed.
Attends workshops and in-services which meet individual needs in area of skill development and continuing education.
Must have demonstrated ability to interact positively with Administration, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.
Must meet regular attendance standard and must stay at or below average sick leave utilization levels.
