The Surgical Tech prepares the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring equipment functionality and establishing the sterile field with necessary supplies and instruments. Responsibilities also include demonstrating knowledge of anatomy, anticipating procedural needs, handling specimens correctly, and potentially serving as a preceptor for training staff and students.
Candidates must complete an accredited Surgical Technology program and possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Certification in Surgical Technology is preferred but not mandatory, and pay scales differ based on certification status.
