The GI Scope Technician, a certified/non-licensed healthcare provider, is responsible for providing direct and/or indirect care within the GI Endoscopy Center at Erlanger Medical Center. This role requires demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care tailored to the age-specific needs of the patients served.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required for this position, and candidates must maintain BLS certification prior to and throughout their tenure in the unit. Preferred qualifications include being a Nursing Assistant Certified by the State of Tennessee, or being a nursing student near completion of Fundamentals of Nursing, EMT, LPN, or Medical Assistant.
The GI Scope Technician is a certified/non-licensed healthcare provider employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care in the GI Endoscopy Center. (A registered or a licensed practical nurse may apply and work in a Patient Care Technician position, but must function within the guidelines, skills, and pay grade outlined for the Patient Care Technician.)
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Nursing Assistant Certified by the State of Tennessee preferred, OR nursing student completing or near completion of Fundamentals of Nursing, EMT, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant.

This employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures
