The Special Procedures Technologist delivers special procedures testing to adult patients under the supervision of a Radiologist and Department Manager, utilizing equipment to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Responsibilities also include maintaining documentation, practicing radiation safety, and assisting with Endovascular treatment preparation, including stroke alert response.
Candidates must possess a current State of Florida license and current ARRT in Radiology, along with AHA Healthcare provider BLS certification. ACLS certification is required within three months of employment, and fluency in English (verbal and written) along with proficiency in computer skills is mandatory.
Current State of Florida license Current ARRT in Radiology AHA Healthcare provider BLS AHA Healthcare provider ACLS (within 3 months of employment) Proficiency computer skills English verbal and written fluency Role and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Radiologist and the Department Manager, the special procedures technologist delivers special procedures testing to adult patients. Technologists utilize equipment and techniques to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Appreciate patient care and recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. The Special Procedures technologist will maintain all necessary documentation and records as required by the State of Florida HRS. This individual is also responsible for appropriate radiation safety practices. He/she must be capable of and willing to cross-train and float into other areas to meet the needs of the facility as well as capable and willing to assist in the cross-training and orientation of others into the department as requested. Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calling a stroke alert overhead. Verbalizes stroke alert process. Assists with preparation of patient for Endovascular treatment (groin clipping, peripheral pulse check, and transfer onto procedure table), room set up, assumes patient care of the stroke alert while in Interventional Radiology Department. Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the annual 4 hours online training.
