The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process and established standards of practice, performing all staff nurse activities and potentially functioning as a charge nurse when assigned. The RN holds ultimate accountability for assigned patients, even when delegating tasks to support staff like Technical Nurses or Patient Care Associates.
Candidates must have an Associate's Degree from an accredited nursing school, though new hires after June 14, 2017, require a BSN within three years of hire. Required certifications include a Florida nursing license and current BLS, with ACLS/PALS requirements varying by department and time of hire.
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served.
