The role involves administering diagnostic orthoptic tests and performing therapeutic orthoptic procedures under the direction of a licensed ophthalmologist. Responsibilities also include providing instructions to patients with correctable vision focusing defects and performing various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Candidates must complete a four-year baccalaureate degree and be AOC board eligible, demonstrating passing scores on written, oral, and practical board examinations within two years. A current BLS certification from an approved provider is also required for this position.
