The Advanced Practice Provider will collaborate with attending physicians and other APPs to deliver direct patient care, including performing consultations, collecting and documenting data, and assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Key duties involve collecting patient histories, conducting physical exams, ordering and reviewing diagnostic studies, and providing comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care.
Candidates must meet specific educational requirements based on their role (NP, PA, or CNM), generally requiring a Master's degree in Nursing for NPs/CNMs. A minimum of two years of work experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant, preferably in Women's Health or High-Risk Obstetrics, is required, along with necessary state licensure and national certifications.
Collect patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record data in patient’s record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients. Order, schedule and review laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient. OBSTETRICAL CARE Obstetrical care including but not limited to: Provide obstetric care to prenatal patients from the new obstetric visit throughout pregnancy and including the postpartum visit. Perform the new obstetric exam with identification of problems complicating pregnancy or pre-existent to pregnancy. Perform FHR assessment, NST interpretation, pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment. Initiate plan of care/diagnostic testing/interpretation of labs/treatment plan based on the individual patient medical/surgical history prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care; report progress to collaborating physician and maintain record of each patient’s progress. Provide patient education relating to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care. Performance of FHR assessment, NST interpretation, pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment. Collaborate with other NP/PAs to ensure clinic and telephone triage coverage. GYNECOLOGICAL CARE Gynecological care including but not limited to: Methods of family planning and counseling for reproductive life planning IUD/Nexplanon placement/removal Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections Job Eligibility Requirements Education Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing. Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Certified Nurse Midwife: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Midwifery program, with a Master's degree in Nursing. Certification BLS required. License Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. National certification as a NP required. Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Certified Nurse Midwife: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. National certification as a NM required. DEA license required. Experience 2+ years of Certified Nurse Midwife, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant work experience with Women's Health - High Risk Obsetrics preferred.
