This role involves assisting qualified physicians with trans-catheter procedures on adult patients using specialized equipment to diagnose or treat heart and peripheral vascular diseases while ensuring patient safety. Responsibilities include sterile procedural assistance, operating specialty equipment, supporting departmental operations, and administering respiratory therapy based on physician orders.
Candidates must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certified by the NBRC and licensed to practice in the state, holding at least an Associate's degree in applied science or equivalent. Specialized knowledge in radiation protection, sterile technique, vital sign assessment, and cardiac/hemodynamic monitoring is required, along with the ability to think critically in emergency situations.

The Interventional Tech Respiratory Therapist is a health care professional that, through the utilization of specialized equipment and supplies while under the direction of a qualified physician, assists with trans-catheter procedures on adult patients resulting in accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart and/or peripheral vascular disease while maintaining maximum patient safety. This position is responsible for Sterile procedural assistance, operation of specialty equipment, and support of departmental operations and patient care. The RRT, under the direction of the nurse, communicates/updates patients and families awaiting care and treatment. Upon physician’s orders, assesses patients’ pulmonary status, determines appropriateness of orders and administers various modes supportive or restorative of therapy, with or without medical gases or pharmacological agents to restore normal cardio-pulmonary function. Demonstrates respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background. Qualifications Education, Credentials, Licenses: Registered Respiratory Therapist as described by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Holds current mandatory certification in the state to practice Respiratory Therapy in the state where work is being performed. Associates degree in applied science or equivalent. All Registered respiratory therapists must maintain their credential as described in the Continuing Competency of the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Failure to maintain the credential will result in a demotion transfer to Respiratory Technician until their credential is reinstated by the NBRC Specialized Knowledge: Understanding of radiation protection and sterile technique Ability to perform vital sign checks including assessment and reassessment of physical pain Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology Kind and Length of Experience: Successful completion of preceptorship and orientation to the facility and clinical area.
