The ED Technician provides bedside care and assists professional nursing staff with routine and specialized technical tasks. They are responsible for reporting unusual findings and maintaining patient safety within the emergency department.
Candidates should ideally be high school graduates with one year of experience as a CNA, EMT-Basic, or Patient Care Technician. A current BLS certification from an approved provider is required.
High School graduate or equivalent (i.e. GED) preferred. One (1) year experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in the acute care hospital setting OR one (1) year experience as an EMT-Basic on an ambulance crew OR one (1) year experience as a Patient Care Technician preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an ILCOR-approved provider (e.g., Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross) with a hands-on manikin skills check. If not certified at the time of hire, obtaining an approved BLS certification within 3 months of your start date is required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 20 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
