This role involves performing various specimen collection techniques, including venipuncture and capillary draws, while ensuring specimens are obtained according to laboratory guidelines and promoting a cooperative environment. Responsibilities also include specimen accessioning, transport, answering department calls, and recognizing emergent conditions.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent and have completed an accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant program with clinical experience, or have previous phlebotomy experience. Certification from a nationally recognized agency such as ASCP or NHA is required.
